The secret nudes of Denny Denfield

Denny Denfield loved photos of muscular, nude men, but in the repressive 50’s it was difficult and often dangerous to buy them, so Denny’s solution was to take his own. On warm summer weekends рe would take his photo equipment to the nude beach just south of San Francisco or to the sunny deserts near Los Angeles and snap pictures of gorgeous naked men.

Many of the young men who posed for him were simply passers-by on the nude beach, others were professional models, still others were hustlers. Thanks to his artistry and the beauty of his models, the pictures he took are bewitching relics of a golden age.
